Advanced insulating glass coatings

Marvin applies extremely thin coatings of metallic material to glass panes in order to improve their energy efficiency. Using industry standard low-emissivity glazing, each pane of glass becomes an effective filter against a significant amount of UV rays and solar heat, enabling your home or business establishment to save on energy costs by reducing your dependence on climate control equipment. Visible light, however, is never obscured, so you won't have to worry about your rooms becoming darker.

Insulating gases for slower heat transfer

Between the glass coatings, noble gases like argon and krypton are pumped in to increase the insulating capability of doors and windows.

Climate-specific products

Marvin glass coatings also come in different varieties that are designed for specific environments.

  • Single-layer metallic coating – This type of coating is ideal for places where solar heat gain is needed. The single metallic coating and insulator blocks heat loss to the outdoors while at the same time reflecting heat back indoors.
  • Double-layer metallic coating – The double metallic coating on the inside glass surface reflects heat indoors during winter and rejects the sun's warmth in summer. It is suitable for all climates, except for places within the southern Energy Star zone (i.e. Hawaii and southern parts of Arizona, Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, and Florida).
  • Triple-layer metallic coating – This coating is ideal for locations within the southern Energy Star zone, where cooling costs are expensive and intense exposure to the sun is a concern.

Additional products for optimum window and door performance

Marvin also offers additional enhancements to further improve energy efficiency. These include energy panels, storm and screen combination panels, window spacer systems, and fully integrated window shades.
